SSCL and the Metropolitan Police Service were highly commended for the Operation Hampshire Digital Assault Reporting App at this week’s UK IT Industry Awards, the largest event in the technology industry calendar.

Owned and operated by BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT and Computing, these awards celebrate organisational and individual excellence; those who are inspiring the next generation of IT professionals and helping to shape the future of the IT industry and digital society.

‘Operation Hampshire’ is the Met’s initiative to improve their response to assaults on police officers and staff. The approach seeks to achieve two things: improved supervision and wellbeing, and improved outcomes through investigation and criminal justice.

SSCL designed and developed a digital solution to allow recording of assault or hate crime on its workforce, guiding Line Managers through the victim aftercare process and ensuring that employee wellbeing is paramount. This recognition not only highlights the outstanding efforts of both our SSCL and Metropolitan Police Service colleagues, but also showcases a vital project that we’ve delivered for our largest policing client, which makes a real difference on a human level.

Cerys Hunt, Director of Business Development for SSCL’s policing business was at the event:

“It was fabulous to be highly commended by the UK IT Industry for the work we have done on Operation Hampshire, and even better still to be able to celebrate that with Met colleagues.

We are so proud of the digital application we have developed – it is making a real difference, ensuring improved and more consistent aftercare, and for the first time ever, providing a robust picture of assaults across the organisation which enables data-driven decision making and organisational learning.

Well done and thank you to everybody who has supported the design and development of our Operation Hampshire app – a real team success.”

Congratulations to both teams!
