We are thrilled to announce that SSCL won two awards and was highly commended in the 2021 Reward Strategy awards celebrating the very best in Payroll, Reward, HR and employee benefits.

Stephen Gething, SSCL Government HR Operations Lead – Exit Management, was named as Best Manager for maintaining high levels of support and engagement for his team during the pandemic, leading the implementation of a new Oracle fusion HR & Payroll platform and employing effective project management skills to support a large client initiative.

Stephen said: “It was a great experience attending the Reward Strategy event on behalf of SSCL and I was extremely honoured to win an award. This award would not have been possible without the support and hard work of all my colleagues in HR and Payroll. I’d like to thank all of my colleagues for their great work ethic and for making this possible. I am very proud to work for SSCL and I am looking forward to working with my colleagues and our clients in 2022.”

Lee Willis, Operations Manager – SSCL Government Payroll, won Best Leader for his work in moving several critical payroll processes back to the UK during the worsening Covid situation in India, as well as improving and coordinating working from home processes for all new recruits and resolving a key P11D issue, ensuring legislative deadlines were met.

Lee said: “I’m honoured to win this award and be a part of SSCL, delivering fantastic services to our clients and their employees. Although this is an individual award, in my view it reflects the fantastic teams we have across Payroll and HR. I’d like to thank them for their hard work and dedication which ensures we collectively deliver for our clients. I’m extremely proud of all involved.”

The SSCL Government, Pension and Payroll Team was Highly Commended in the Payroll and HR Provider Award, for its work to support DWP with onboarding approximately 19,000 additional employees. This was part of the award-winning Work Coach recruitment that SSCL also delivered and the team supported through improving the creation of employee records by reducing lead time from five days to 24 hours. The innovative use of automation enabled teams to process higher volumes for our clients.

Stu Clennell, Head of Payroll Operations – SSCL Government said: “We should not under-estimate how much of a massive achievement this is, both Lee & Stephen’s awards are well deserved and recognition of the key roles they play in successful delivery to our clients.”
